Anne Frank and the Tree of Life
We all have things we must
learn to stop taking for granted

For the last half century,
Anne Frank and her incredible diary,
has served as a symbol of how even in
the worst and inhumane conditions,
we can find light, joy and hope.
Caged in a small
attic in Amsterdam,
hiding from the Nazis,
the 13 years old girl
documented her life in a diary.
After two years of hiding,
she and her family was finally
betrayed and sent to the death camps.
In her diary,
that was read by over 25 million
readers around the world, mostly children,
she makes reoccurring references to an
old chestnut tree that she could see
through the only window that was
not blacked out.
The tree was a beacon of light and life,
it was her Tree of Life.
She writes:
Feb. 23, 1944:
"Nearly every morning I go to the
attic to blow the stuffy air out
of my lungs,
from my favorite spot on the floor I
look up at the blue sky and the bare
chestnut tree,
on whose branches
little raindrops shine,
appearing like silver.
"As long as this exists, I thought,
and I may live to see it, this sunshine,
the cloudless skies,
while this lasts I cannot be unhappy."
The tree,
estimated to be about 150 years
of age has been dying from a
deadly fungus that attacked it
recently.
The dying roots and bark
refuse to regenerate.
This chestnut tree is one of
the oldest in Amsterdam.
And so it happened,
that in the month of Scorpio,
the sign that represent death
and resurrection,
it was finally decided to cut the tree,
after all efforts to save him failed.
We are now experiencing an
interesting planetary alignment.
Five planets are in conjunction in Scorpio.
It is as if they all gathered
for the funeral of the ancient tree,
gathering from all corner of the zodiac
to pay respect to the tree that stood there,
witnessing the atrocities human being
inflict on each other.
Synchronicity so ordained that in Scorpio,
while this powerful conjunction takes place,
it was decided to take the tree off his misery.
But Scorpio is not only the sign of death,
it is also the sign of resurrection.
In his place,
a sampling taken from
the old tree will be planted.
Who said trees cannot reincarnate?
The sampling has the precise same DNA,
and I believe the same memories that
the old chestnut tree had.
He will be planted at the same place.
For once, we humans have done the right thing.
This new tree will take many
years to get to match the
glory and beauty that Anne
Frank's tree possessed,
but he will have the memory of
the optimistic and courageous girl
who found joy in little things.
Trivial things we take for granted,
such as watching a tree bloom.
We all have so much to be thankful for,
so much things we must learn to stop
taking for granted.
It is the like of Anne Frank
and her tree that lives immortal
in her diary, that remind us of this truth.
