I am thinking of building a computer. Anyone here build thier own? If any reccomendations as far as websites or places to get parts? It'll be for a youngster so it doesn't have to be the super delux.

The last five machines I've built were purchased from www.mwave.com as what are called "barebones" machines. They are a mobo, CPU, RAM, and case already assembled for you, but with parts you personally selected yourself. When I get one of these, I only have to transfer my drives and cards and I'm done. Plus the old machine in then a barebones that I can easily upgrade some other machine with. Here's where I'd start. http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewproduct.asp?PID=BBONE-INTEL&updepts=BBONE&DNAME=Barebone+Sys tems+%2D+Desktop -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ ____ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / __ )____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ / __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_____/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms

If a P4 3.0 Ghz is a good bump for you, it's a good deal. The $159 price tag is about half what I paid for my P4 2.4 Ghz / Asus P4P800 a few years ago, and I used that machine right up to a couple months ago when I bumped up to a Core 2 Duo. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ ____ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / __ )____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ / __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_____/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms

It's not going to be a DAW though, because Zelix said it was for his kid or something. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ ____ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / __ )____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ / __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_____/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms

If I can get teh XP. It's be a warrantied and reliable computer that'll last for a long time. I'm gettting hesitant to try to make one. I'm not sure if it'd be reliable.

I think that Asus one might just possibly be the same vintage as the one my friend has that is a real slow hot running pos.

What do you normally use as a high-performance comp? I'd like to make a nice gaming comp after a while and I get my overtime money brewed up.
