Subject: City Council annual meeting - Thursday 24 May, daytime
From: Tim Ward
Date: 5/16/2007 10:44:59 PM
The Annual Meeting of Cambridge City Council will be at 11:00 on Thursday 24
May in the Guildhall.
Full agenda here:
http://www.cambridge.gov.uk/public/councillors/agenda/2007/0524cncl/00.pdf
The morning session is basically civic stuff, electing the mayor for the
year and so on. After lunch comes the political part of the agenda,
including debates on:
(a) Bus strategy - lack of joined-up thinking
(b) Climate change - suggestions for improvements to the Climate Change Bill
(c) Housing - bringing back into use empty residential property
(d) City centre strategy
(e) Folk festival ticket arrangements
(f) Punting - touting and other problems
Several of the above have been recent topics of discussion on cam.* so
should be of interest to people here ... although possibly not of quite so
much interest as to prompt you to take an afternoon off work, I accept; it's
arguably rather a pity that the debates of more interest to the public
happen to have turned up for our one daytime meeting of the year.
Tickets to sit in the chamber for the morning session really do need to be
arranged in advance via your favourite councillor, as the seats get full for
this particular session. But there's plenty of room in the gallery.
