Alaska has been great so far - actually had winter! Of course, if I'd stayed in Colorado - it was actually winter there this year, too!! Its starting to warm up, the snow is melting and the sun is out!! -- colomoon Today is a gift - that's why its called the Present "moonpaint" <moonpaint@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:C22C8568.1D1%moonpaint@hotmail.com... > Looks like it is now. Winter, wow! We just have hot or drizzle or frost...my poor tropical back yard took a real hit this year. I guess it's time to really look into some xeriscaping instead of the lush tropical stuff that was here when I moved in. Now, when you say "warm up," is that a relative term? :) On 4/1/07 2:25 PM, in article 13108r0oj57oa2c@corp.supernews.com, "colomoon" <pameacham@gci.net> wrote: > Alaska has been great so far - actually had winter! I don't have xeriscaping, but I'd go that way if I hadn't already decided on rocks. I am NOT in a tropical area, therefore tropical plants would simply take too much time. Of course Midwestern plants take too much time, too. That's what was in my yard. I've seen some xeriscaped areas and they look great. I think you'll like it. Yes, warm up is relative - its been in the 40s. But most of March was in the single digits, so everyone is happy. The creeks and rivers and lakes are beginning to show open water and there wasn't much ice out on the inlet yesterday morning when I drove out by the "big" water. And, there was an eagle sitting in the tree by the eagles' nest so it looks like that will be occupied this year. Once the leaves come out, you can't see the nest anymore, so you can't really know if the pair came back or not, unless you see the eaglets once they start leaving the next later in the summer. I was lucky enough to see 2 of them last year - right place at the right time, and I almost missed seeing them. -- colomoon Today is a gift - that's why its called the Present "moonpaint" <moonpaint@hotmail.com> wrote > Winter, wow!
