Not me. I have returned three items in the past few years to a brick and
mortar Target store. The first time was with a $400 digital camera that
I returned a day or two after I bought it because it just didn't suit my
needs as well as I expected. Despite the receipt clearly stating that a
15% restocking fee would be charged on all returned electronics goods, I
figured I would take a chance and see what happens. Lo and behold, no
problem at all! The full purchase price was refunded, and I was honest
with the woman who handled the return there and I told her the camera
worked fine, but I just didn't like it. No hassle at all.
Likewise when I returned a toaster oven that was horribly designed, but
looked fine in the store. I could not pack the parts back in the box
well at all, so I just dumped the stuff in the original box and returned
it. No problem at all. Full purchase price was refunded.
I had the receipt for both those items, but two years ago during the
Christmas holiday season, I bought a $40 tripod and it would not hold my
camera up at all. The thing was defective. I misplaced the receipt, so I
was unable to show it to the Target employee who handled my return. As a
result, they would only issue me a store credit, but it was for the full
value of the tripod. A store credit is fine with me. I used the credit
during that same trip to Target.
