Mile marker 3 is about 2 miles beyond the east base of Mt Hamilton (the bridge at Isabel Creek) and is a difficult climb. -- jerry "Dogs were created to serve man. Man was created to serve cats."

From the reports I have heard, no one thought of filling their bottles from it. It wasn't that appealing. Personally my plan would be use a camelbak. Fill up at the Junction and the top of Hamilton.

I recommend turning around at about mile 7.5 because getting to Isabel Creek involves a steep climb and descent to the creek. In my opinion, if you make it to the creek, you might as well go all to the way to the top. On the subject of the spring, I've drunk from the spring many times. The water is cold and tastes good. I think it dries up in the summer though. When I was up there the Friday before last, it was still flowing but not gushing like it was a month before. If you get water at the jct., buy bottled water as the tap water tastes terrible. A Camelbak is a good idea if it's a warm day. -- Mike DeMicco <blaster186@comcast.net>
