Does anyone know what is behind all the admonitions made during
the TOC coverage not to bicycle on Highway 1?.

They also made them during stage 1. Something about the road being
closed during the race, but too dangerous to bike on with traffic
present. Also similar comments regarding biking up Mt. Tam.
