SFIFF50: ITALIAN FILMS
This year the San Francisco International Film Festival will host two
films
from Italy that should not be missed!
ALONG THE RIDGE
Along the Ridge (Anche Libero va bene), by the Italian film and
theatre
actor Kim Rossi Stuart, explores a family in torment. 11-year-old
Tommy, his
teenage sister Viola and their volatile father Renato struggle with
the
emotional fallout created by the absence of wife and mother Stefania.
Told
from young Tommy`s perspective, this film is a powerfully real family
portrait. This film is the New Director Section and is in competition
for
the SKYY Prize.
THE CAIMAN
The Caiman (Il Caimano) is Nanni Moretti`s return to the political
satire
that is his trademark. This story
of a washed-up film producer viciously attacks Berlusconi`s political
machinations while affectionately mocking the Italian film industry,
bourgeois family values and middle-aged machismo.
